The Fattest of them All!

Chicago’s Windy City Wonders Dominate the Field;
Team 16 Takes a Walk…Against a Girl!

HARVARD YARDS Saturday, August 3, 2002 – A field of 16 inaugurated the new Fat Bastard Complex at Harvard Yards, as several newcomers made their debuts in this annual showcase of poor athleticism.
Slim Pickens*, led by the untouchable Jimmy “Chitwood” Galvan and Dave “Psycho” Kale blew in from Chicagoland and let a winder against the competion, earning themselves the right to be named “Fattest of them All” with a 2002 FAT BASTARD CHAMPIONSHIP victory over Greenville’s Tip of the Sword and Teddy “Ballgame” Braam’s record 25 dingers. Galvan did not allow and earned run for the day and claimed both the MVP and Pitcher of the Year award.
Braam was simply on fire most of the day, utilizing the breezy conditions to crush the previous tournament home run record of 8. Great Lakes Wiffleball’s Justin Davis also had a strong debut, leading the Chet Lemons to an upper half finish. Dustin “The Ringer” Nichols was likely the best player of the day – pound-for-pound – as he led the tourney in batting in his debut.
The best looking debut of the year, however, was reserved for the Gorgeous Ladies of Wiffle, who battled their way into the Baxter Bowl finals only to see Bock take a bases-loaded walk – on a pitch that missed by an inch or less – to claim the victory for Team 16, a last-minute collaboration with Bucky.
The 2002 Fat Bastard was not without controversey, however, as Slim Pickens* had charges levelled against them for “un-Fat Bastard-like” behaviour, which has earned them their very own asterisk.
Zanner was awarded the Good Hands prize and Rubber Sheets and Gerbils was named Best Team Name.
